Cement

Cement is a very old binding material, already used by the Romans over 2000 years ago.

The main raw materials for the production of cement are limestone, clay, sand and iron ore, which are burned in a rotary kiln and forms as a result of chemical reactions  cement clinker. The cement clinker is finely grounded and with the addition of gypsum the modern Portland cement is produced.

Cement combined with water and further different aggregates is the base for mortar and concrete. The ratio between these materials determine the later characteristics as for instance strength, durability and elasticity.

Different kinds of standards have been set worldwide in order to ensure quality of the final product by several tests during the different stages of the production process.

Most common standards for determination of the strength are EN 196 and ASTM C-109.

Our product range for testing binding materials covers the following areas of application: sample preparation (mixing ,compacting, storage), determination of the grinding fineness (Blaine), determination of setting time (Vicat), determination of soundness (Le Chatelier), determination of the heat of hydration, determination of strength
