Concrete has a high compressive strength but low tensile strength. Therefore, it is reinforced by embedded steel. Reinforcing steel bars are mainly produced in diameters from  5 mm to 60 mm. Smaller diameters are further processed into mats or lattices before concrete pouring.

Fields of applications are construction and civil engineering projects. Typical tests are tensile, flexural, shear and fatigue tests.
